PGA Tour Pro Plays Muni
Ever wonder what a PGA Tour Professional would shoot at your local municipal golf course, you know, the ones that you and I hack around at? With the uncut fairways, unmanaged greens, blotchy bunkers.
I originally found the article through the AOL Fanhouse golf blog. The writer is from the Washington Post and he challenged PGA Pro Steve Marino to play at one of the local munis in the Washington DC area. Steve agreed and his article is the result.
In case you don’t want to actually read this great article, Steve shot a 68, the writer shot a typical 98. I leave you with this great quote which pretty much sums it up,
It’s just kind of like you hit it and guess where it goes on this course,” Marino said. “I don’t think I’d ever shoot over par on a course like this, but I’m not sure I could ever go really low. On nice courses, you know when you hit a good shot that you’re going to get rewarded for it. So if you’re playing great, you score great. Here, you just never know.”
