Preview of AT&T Finish
Heading into the stretch run, lets take a look at the leaders, and prime contenders.
Leaders
Troy Matteson and Ryuji Imada are co-leaders at 10-under a piece. Matteson played well late in the second-round while Imada was hot early but fought off a double-bogey to stay at 10-under. Imada has been on a hot-streak of late, and may pull it out on the final day. Not 100% sold on Matteson, he hasn’t had a lot of prior success on the Tour so far so unless he comes out gangbusters I see him slipping back into the pack.
Storyline between both Matteson and Imada is that Matteson is a Georgia Tech alum whil Imada is a Georgia alum, fierce rivals in NCAA golf.
Contenders
I really like Zach Johnson and Henrik Stenson. Johnson of course coming off his Masters performance certainly is playing well this week and has the poise to pull off the win. While Stenson is simply too hot right now not to win a tournament. First round leader Sutherland is still very much in play but he looks like he’ll par out with his best round past. Camilo Villegas looked impressive, and has some personality to him as well.
Should be a strong finish to a relatively weak field here at the AT&T. The greens will be fast with the hot weather but I expect the winner to finish with a 13-under or 14-under score. The 18th hole is playing some kind of wicked with the water and downhill break, expect it to be a major factor on Sunday.
Final two rounds will be broadcast on CBS. For you lucky ones with tee times, have a great golfing weekend.
