Scott Shoots Lights Out

Catch me if you can.
The second round of the Memorial was owned by Adam Scott today shooting a blistering round of 62 to lead at 12-under after two rounds. The photogenic Aussie showed plenty of game to go with his dashing good looks and actually flirted with a round of 59 missing a few makeable 12-foot putts.
There were a lot of good scores Friday and the leaderboard shows the depth of the field. Pampling is at 11-under, Bubba Watson at 10-under. Tiger is a ways off at 2-under shooting an even par today. He played OK, but wasn’t able to hole his birdie putts. Ernie and Vij had rounds similar to Tiger. Sergio, well, he’s still struggling with pretty much everything.
Heading into the weekend, I like Pampling, Bubba, O’Hair, and Boo Weekley. Somehow, I just don’t think Adam Scott can continue shooting like that and I see all those other guys continue shooting 3-under, 4-under. The tournament record of 20-under looks to be a little in jeopardy here. But, Scott has won this year and he’s proven he can play so I wouldn’t count him out completely.
As for the women, Ochoa, Park, and Creamer will be paired up for the final two rounds. Ochoa has plenty of wiggle room at the top, but if Creamer or Park start making birdies and putting the pressure on, how will Ochoa respond? Annika had a solid even par and will be playing the weekend, though I don’t think she’s quite 100% yet.
Finally, Phil Mickelson had an MRI done on his wrist and the good news for him is that it isn’t broken, just inflammed. He’s 50/50 at the moment playing next week. My gut says he will sit out to rest for the US Open.
Again, to the lucky ones with tee times this weekend, enjoy. I’m out…
