Tiger Won’t Play First Fedex Cup Event
In what has to be a devastating blow to the PGA Tour officials, the Golf Channel’s Frank Nobilo confirmed that Tiger Woods has decided not to play the Barclay’s which is the first among four Fedex Cup events. Tiger is currently ranked number one in the Fedex Cup standings.
I’m not sure if that means TW is also automatically DQ for the other 3 remaining events, but you’d had to think the PGA Tour officials will find a way to get him in there even if it meant bypassing the rules.
Still, this is a huge blow and could mean players like Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk follow Tiger’s lead. Hell, if Tiger can skip it, why can’t I?? I know there is tremendous pressure for them to play, but many have some sort of lingering injury that they would much rather sit this one out.
