Wyndham Preview

Is tour rookie Steve Marino on the verge of his first win?
With the conclusion of the final major of the year, the PGA Championship last week, the PGA Tour season usually winds down from here. But this year the inauguration of the FedEx Cup (ie. playoffs) has extended the PGA Tour season for about 4 weeks, then of course is the President’s Cup.
Having said all of that, there is a tournament this week squeezed in between, the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro. As expected, nobody that you’ve really heard of will be there. Let’s handicapp it anyway, just because…
A List
If there was a week for slim pickins’, it would be this week.
I’m going with Steve Marino and Anders Hansen. Steve is having a solid rookie year (could be rookie of the year), and Anders won the BMW PGA Championship in England a few months back.
B List
John Senden, Jonathan Byrd, Bo Van Pelt and Jeff Maggert.
John Senden played really well last week at the PGA so I’m thinking that he’ll bring that confidence and momentum here. Jonathan Bryd just won a few weeks ago. Bo could be OK and Jeff, well he was a stretch.
C List
Brandt Snedeker and Bubba Watson.
If I were to pick just one guy to win this week, I would pick Brandt. While Steve Marino has been a little more consistent, Brandt is the better player.
Bubba can hit it long and has proven he can play on this tour. Maybe struggled a little lately, but still a good pick.
TV coverage will be the usual Golf Channel on Thu/Fri and CBS on Sat/Sun.
